God always shows up even in the last minute!

We are now settling in our new home since beginning of February. After we arrived from our extended road trip across US and Eastern Canada, we had great difficulty finding a rental place. The Lord ended up providing us a suite 2 days prior to being on the streets. We were so thankful but it was a temporal place. There, we regrouped, rested and God refreshed us! I can not tell you how physically, emotionally and spiritually exhausted we were when we entered that rental suite. But God is so faithful, He has revived us, healed us, refilled us and totally recharged us! To Him be the glory! What precious memories we have with Him in that place of refugee and rest!

After a few months, we started to pray for God to provide us another place that best suits our family and to do so before the birth of our 6th baby. We prayed and prayed. Then came, an e-mail from friends whom God had spoken to, to release some finances into our lives. We thanked God and trusted that now that He had provided for the expenses, that He would also lead us to the right place, though it had been extremely hard. Within days, Pitana found the place, 2 weeks before we had to leave where we were. Great. How exciting! You want to know what happened next? We all got sick. All the children, Pitana and I were so sick for a week! We had never been through this before. I remember, we even ran out of milk and toilet paper, but neither Pitana nor I had the strength to go to the store. Thankful for a friend who stepped in to help! By the end of the week, Pitana and the children were doing well, but I was still needing a bit more time. No packing had been done, so Pitana and children set to work for the few days that were left, yet still managing the home. 3 days prior to our move, there was still 3/4 of the house unpacked. But that day, the Lord intervened again! A team of the young adults from our new church showed up. We didn’t know any of them but they entered into the house with a mindset to work.  By the end of that night, we were almost done. Not to mention, we had a fun time with them! The night before we moved, a friend called and asked if he could come and help pack. Pitana was hesitant thinking that there was really not much to do. But how many of you know that the last minute things can take a very long time to pack? The friend was persistent, and how grateful we are. A couple of hours after he arrived, he had packed up all the remaining items readying for the move in the morning! We didn’t even know we needed his help, but God did and gave him that mission which he accomplished well.

The following morning, the young adults team (now with more of them) along with another friend, showed up to move us. They brought a truck, trailer and their vehicles so we didn’t need to rent a moving truck. Within  a few hours, we were in our new place; kitchen unpacked; bedrooms set up; living room set up; books on book shelves; meals prepared and eaten and little ones tucked in bed. Pitana and I sat down to just take it all in. How good is our God! He never seizes to amaze us!

“O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come.” Psalm 65:2. God truly hears and answers prayer. As you read this, we hope that you are encouraged to keep praying for whatever situation, you are in. Don’t give up because the answer will surely come.

We have a week left in our daily 21 days of prayer, maybe you need someone to agree with you, we would love to pray with you. Send us an  e-mail.

Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, to the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.” Jude 1:24

Abundance of bread!

At this time of the year, I sense many people having a lot of anxiety. How do I pay for this and that? You know God commands us not to be anxious. You may say, “but you don’t know my bills or my current situations.” That’s why I wanted to share this testimony with you. We hope it encourages you in whatever you are facing today.

Last summer, our fridge was almost empty. We had been praying for food, gas etc. We had just under $50. We agreed and decided to sow all of that money we had into a certain ministry. Within that week, we reaped close to $1500 (Luke 6:38; Galatians 6:7). Before we had made it to the grocery store, we received a phone call from our friends asking if we wanted bread. A very good organic bakery had changed their recipe and was giving away hundreds of loaves of bread. How many loaves did we want? Wow!! Well, we took 75 loaves ; plenty for us and enough to share with others! Our freezer was full and so was the fridge. Glory be to God! Usually such bread a loaf sells between $3.99 and $5. God is so Good.

So, whatever is troubling you today, why not take time to talk to God about it? Why not ask Him for what you need? Often we limit God to our paycheck, thinking that if I am going to have my needs met, it is going to be through that check. The scripture says that we have not because we ask not.(James 4:2) Why not try to ask Him specifically for that need and leave it up to Him how He chooses to meet your need. Be also sure to listen and obey, just in case He has instructions for you.

God bless you as you seek Him today in Jesus’ name. Amen

A vehicle provided!

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

We want to thank you for your prayers. After over a month, we now have our own vehicle. Praise God! The Lord surprised us through friends who gave a significant monetary gift to which we added a bit and got a used SUV. God is so good. It is so good to be able to drive all of us together again.

Talking to people and looking at what we have gone through this year; seems like there are difficulties that many are going through. Those times come, the worse part of it would be to go through it alone. As a Christian, I don’t think we are meant to do life alone. We are so thankful for those who have reached out and continue to reach out to us during our difficulties. They have listened, prayed and sought ways to bless and encourage us.
If you are going through one of those seasons and perhaps feel alone and have no one to walk through this with you, we want to let you know that we would like to walk with you. So e-mail or call and we will agree with you in prayer.

God bless you and let His name alone be praised.

Over and above what we imagined Part-2

We also realized that the gas bill on the house had not been paid for long and soon, it would be cut off leaving us with no heat in the Ontario winter. The manager the owners had left behind was of no help. We got desperate and cried out to God. Pitana stayed all night praying. As we both prayed, God gave us separately a name of a dear sister we had just met. We obeyed and called her as the Lord had instructed us. We told her that we didn’t know why but we felt we were to share with her our situation. She told us that she was going to pray and then proceed as God leads her. She promised she would be getting back to us that day. By evening, we got the call. She had shared our situation with her homeschooling group. There were 3 people saying that they had furnished homes that we could use. One of those ladies called us. Her mother travels for the winter and has a big house that we could use! She explained that the house was big enough for all of our family. The house also came with a clubhouse which has an indoor swimming pool, gym and a games room! I asked her how much they wanted to rent it and she replied “IT’S FOR FREE!!!” Wow, am I hearing correctly? I asked again how much it would be and she assured me that they just wanted to give it to us for free to use to rest. Free including all utilities too! Praise be to God. Only He can do such a thing!

wpid-img_20150328_005816.jpgIMG_6620

The house is in Collingwood, ON; a 2 hr drive from where we were in Mississauga. We moved into the house the next day. What a night and day change it was from where we were just coming from. We shouted, danced and cried as we thanked our faithful God. Oh, He is so good. The amazing thing is that those 2 dear ladies have never met. They only knew each other via e-mail!

The house was beyond anything we had imagined. Everyone of us’ desires, including our nanny’s, had been fulfilled. The house was beautifully decorated. Very organized and clean. Such thoughtfulness in every detail. There was Pitana and I’s room (more like a suite); the girls room, the boys room (King size bed) and Sarah, our nanny, had her own “apartment” downstairs- which she so appreciated. There was play room/ game and theater room downstairs with a ping pong table, lots of games, toys and large space with plenty of couches to host a party! There was a craft room- oh my, we had never seen such before, it was like being in a craft store- all kinds of papers, stamps etc. Perfect for a homeschooling family! Lots of room to host friends and family who would need to spend the night when they visited. It was just so perfect for us. A perfect place to rest. Did I mention that it was off the Georgian bay? The club house was free for us to use as well. We just simply enjoyed our vacation and time alone as a family. What a good boss we serve!

wpid-img_20150216_114002.jpg

We were able to visit renown places such as Blue Mountain and Wasaga Beach (longest fresh water beach in the world) which were just a few minutes drive from the house.

We of course continued our homeschooling after resting a bit. We took our classroom out and went to see the “it’s an honour” travel exhibit put on by the office of the Governor General, David Johnson. While learning all we could learn about the Canadian honor awards, we were told that Canada’s most honored man was just on the way to the exhibit. He arrived to find a few of us there and he took time to answer our family’s questions before taking off in a few minutes. General Richard Rohmer, that is his name, is said to be “the most decorated Canadian,” The list of his awards go on and on. We took a picture with him for our keepsake and the photographer on the exhibit took one too. Little did we know that we would be in the local newspaper!!!

I hope you are encouraged as you read of how God turned our trying time into something beautiful beyond what we had imagined. He hears you too. Whatever difficult situation you are facing, please don’t give up. Let’s keep calling unto him.

“O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come.” Plsalm 65:2.

To God be the glory both now and forevermore in Jesus’ name. Amen

Over and above what we imagined!

We left Niagara Falls and headed to Mississauga, ON where we had rented a furnished house for the remainder of the winter. The owners were travelling overseas for a couple of months and were flying out that night. Though we had viewed the house a few days prior and had been assured that once they take their belongings (clothes etc) out to store them, that they would clean the house. We arrived while they were getting in their vehicle to catch their flight and all seemed very rushed. By the time we got to examine the rest of the house, they were gone. What a shock to look behind closed closets, kitchen cabinets etc. The house was filthy!! Beyond “gross.” What do we do now? We had no place to go. Most of our money was spent on the rental. What a challenge it was! Would we choose to complain and grumble? Yes, we had been taken advantage of, what would our attitude be? What was supposed to be a point of rest after a long road trip was now a big challenge. How we had imagined entering the house and dropping our bags down and do nothing but rest for the next few days. What had happened? The house was so filthy that once we pulled the covers off the beds, we realized that we could not sleep on the sheets! By now it is about 8 pm and the children are ready for bed. What now? Ok, quick, lets throw the sheets in the washer and we can wait while they dry, right? No, the latest discovery is that the dryer does not work. Wow! Talk about pressure! Decision was made and we headed to the nearest walmart and bought bedding including blankets. At least, we can put the children to bed and God would take care of tomorrow.

In such situations, we believe that if ‘you don’t have something good to say, just be quiet.’ So for us the grownups, there was very little speaking- only what was necessary. The children barely noticed the difficulty, there were new toys to play with, special food already provided and now new bedding- they were having a good time. But for us, what a trial it was to choose to rejoice in such situation.

By the time we had everyone in bed and cleaned out somethings out of the rooms, we were exhausted and headed to bed. We arose and made a decision to clean the whole house until it was livable- there goes our vacation! So with the children playing with Sarah, our nanny, Pitana and I began to tackle the kitchen. Dishes washed, windows cleaned and disfencted, dining table clean, counter, fridge, dishwasher, microwave etc, spotless. Yea, we were making great progress; there was hope until we headed for the stove… When we began to take the burners out to clean them, we realized how inside was rotting (built up dirty food drops- yack!). This was more than we could take. We were done. No laundry, no stove, it’s time to have a very serious talk with the Provider.

All night prayer, fasting and more prayers…. and God showed up BIG!!!!

To be continued…

Above and beyond!

It has taken us some time to find a place to live in here, Ottawa, for the time God has us here. Looking for a furnished place on a month to month basis proved not easy. But He who called us here knew that, yet He sent us here. Surely, He had a plan. We rejoice to tell you that we finally got a furnished 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, apartment on a month to month basis. Hallelujah! When we shared this at the church where we are serving, they said ‘impossible, there are no month to month rentals here.” We serve a God who knows no impossibility! Though we were thankful and relived to have a place, there were some things we desired to see changed. We prayed and had a friend pray with us too. Minutes later the landlord arrived for the appointment we had with him. We let him know that the kitchen was not cleaned well and most of the pots were so burnt we could not use them.  The kitchen was also very small- few cupboards and very little counter space (a dish rack on one side and a crock pot on the other side leaves no free counter space). He has another apartment above us, so we were asking if we could move up. Being with children, he preferred us down lest we make noise for those below us. So, he looked at us and said, “we’ll put in more cupboards and a new counter that would run from wall to wall! It will be a one day job.” He also said that he would send the cleaning lady again to clean and that I should give her a list of any items I want and that she would go and buy them. We were just asking for other pots but here we were being told that anything we wanted in that kitchen, just to write it down and it would be bought! In our travels, we’ve noticed that such furnished temporary places will usually have 2 or 3 pots, a few plates, cups etc… mostly suitable for no more than 4 people and we would just try to manage. Not easy for our family of 7. But here, we were being told, we could set up the kitchen to serve our family. Isn’t God so good! The lady came and cleaned. I then gave her the list and she left to go buy them right away. She returned shortly with all new kitchen necessities including big pots- Yea- no more cooking rice in 2 small pots just to feed our family!

wpid-img_20150425_134840.jpg

She then gave me her cell number just in case there are items I forgot to ask her to buy. I was having a hard time adding items to the list knowing that they were buying the extra items just for us. But the Holy Spirit kept reminding me that He had provided and that I needed to receive. So I sent a text to the lady with the items I had hesitated to tell her. This morning, she showed up early with those items.

wpid-img_20150426_164724.jpg  She took care of a few other things that needed attention and then she reminded me to call her if there is anything else we are missing. God is overwhelming me! The cupboards just finished being assembled and the new counter is in! We serve an amazing God. I just had to share this and testify that God is “able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we can ask, think or imagine.” My only issue is “Lord, help me to imagine bigger…” Amen.

Computers provided!

For awhile we had one computer, given to us in 2008 as a gift. It is the one we traveled countries and continents with. But it was giving up and hanging by a string. Last summer, we asked God for another computer. We had looked at a refurbished computer that would cost $225. We agreed that God would provide that money. Very shortly after, someone we had ministered to handed us an envelope with $250. After we paid out tithe on it, we had exactly the $225 we needed. Praise God, with got the computer!

It was our personal, ministry and homeschooling computer. Everyone had to be patient. We had to coordinate our schooling; Pitana’s study and ministry work and never mind any personal emails etc. But we were thankful and learned to schedule time for computer usage. Then, it was dropped once when one of our children was going to use to use it for school. But after some prayers, it worked well again! Hallelujah!

Then a few weeks ago, a little bit of water fell on the computer. It would not work well again. We were going to visit friends and one of them works with computers. The Lord said, ‘take the computer to him to look at’ so we obeyed. After looking at it, he told us that it could not be revived although he had good news, we had not lost any of our files! We told him that it had to work because it was the only one we had for personal, ministry and homeschooling usage. On top of that one of our sons had government tests to do online the next few days! Our friend was surprised to find out that we only had one laptop. He said, ‘you at least need 2 computers :one for ministry and the other for schooling.’ We told him that we agreed but that is what we had at the moment.

The computer did not work well again. We drove home from our visit, only to arrive and receive a phone call from our friends letting us know that they had ordered us 2 new laptops! God is so good. To Him be all the glory! The laptops arrived in 2 days and our son was able to use it for his tests. Hallelujah!

Mission nanny provided!

While on one of our mission trips, we learned about missionary nannies. These are women who volunteer as nannies to missionary families. Looking at our situation; doing ministry in our home; travelling a lot; homeschooling; being in a new country with no family or friends to babysit etc., we realized that we could use the help of a mission nanny. The Lord said to us, “why don’t you just ask me?’ So we began to pray. We prayed for a nanny that would fit in our home and ministry for 11 months. We praise God because after those 11 months, he provided just the right young woman to help our family. She has been a blessing to our family and to those whom we minister to. Only God could have worked out all the details he did to connect us and bring her to us all the way from across the country! And she enjoys to travel. Yea! Glory be to God!

Given money

We were recently at a church and after the service, we were chatting with a certain couple. We asked how they were doing and they were trying to cover up but we could see that they were going through a hard time. As we pressed them, they began to open up, their lives had just been hit with news that was shaking them. The wife was very down. So we changed our plans and headed to their house straight from church. After more discussions, we prayed but there was no breakthrough. The woman’s head was down, she had no hope. Just about to leave, Pitana received a word from the Lord and shared it and wow! the woman revived right there and then! Praise God for the Holy Spirit, He gives the Word in due season. After Pitana shared what God had just laid on his heart, we prayed asking God to intervene and claiming victory in their lives and then we left, praising God who had showed up at the last minute!

A few weeks later, we met up with them. One of the things they needed was finance. You know what? God led a certain man whom they didn’t know well to give them $10,000 which is the amount they needed. Free and no catch except that he said ‘just thank God’. He himself needed money but God said give it to the couple. Hallelujah!!

More blessed to give!

People are often amazed by how miraculously God provides for us, as if we are more special than others. ‘God is no respecter of persons.’ His principles work always. Someone recently told us that it seems like things just happen for us without any struggle. Here is a ‘behind the scenes story’. For years, we struggled and struggled especially in the area of finances. I had much fear and had to calculate everything. Now, I am not saying not to manage your money. What I am saying is that I didn’t trust God with our finances. We gave our tithes all the time, but I had a hard time going beyond that. Giving was not an easy idea in my life. I would come across an opportunity to give but then I would look on my own circumstances and conclude that I could not give. I kept thinking that one day there would be no need in my life and then I would be a joyful giver! Well, you got it, that day never came. Pitana on the other hand, had no issue in giving. It took a while as God worked in my life to first show me fear in me and then revealing and filling me with His love and convincing me over and over that He does not plan to harm me. When He asks me to give, it’s not that He wants me to suffer. God loves me and He loves you too. He so desires what is best for us. After what seemed like a long time and taking baby steps, I began to trust God with our finances and needs. We both remember vividly when I surrendered. I cried to God and told Him that, ‘I have tried budget, (financial counselor couldn’t help us. He said that in our budget we had made cuts that he himself didn’t know that could be made); I have done the math. But it has not worked. We are behind on bills, in debt. Lord. I thought I knew how to budget, but it has not worked for us. Lord I surrender. I let go of all I have known of managing money and ask that You teach us” I totally surrendered. Back then, I managed our budget. Pitana and I got in agreement and handed our finances and thinking to God. God then asked me to stop babysitting which I had started to do in our home. He also asked Pitana to quit his second job asking him to remain with only one job. God also instructed us to start giving our tithes on our gross income instead of net income. He explained to us that if we pay our taxes on gross, why do we then give out tithes on net income. Remember Jesus said, “give unto Ceasar what is Ceasar’s and to God what is God’s.” Pitana has liken tithes to taxes saying that tithes are like our heavenly taxes.

Do you know what happened the month we surrendered our thinking and finances to God? Well, our income was less as we let go of 2 of our incomes. Our expenses didn’t change but we had $600 left over at the end of the month! wow!! We still don’t understand it intellectually, all we know is that God’s ways work. He began to teach us to be givers. From giving $5 to $20 to $1000 (our only savings then). The Holy Spirit led us to have a 6 months food supply in our home. He would send people our way and then ask us to bless them with all kinds of food. He began to teach us to be hospitable. No no, not the ‘lets have you over for dinner and why don’t you bring an appetizer or dessert?’. The Lord taught us to that when we have people over for a visit to not ask them to bring a meal over. He taught us to trust Him to provide for us and those He sends our way including the strength to host. ‘Whatever you did to the least of these, my brethren, you did unto me.’ And David said, ‘will I give unto God that which costs me nothing?’ We learned to offer our guests, the very best we had that day and trust God for tomorrow. What tremendous blessings followed! As we hosted and had fellowship, our faith was strengthened as we heard what God was doing in others; we encouraged others as we shared what God was teaching us; we saw the unsaved come to believe in Jesus and much more…

God has taught us to live a giving lifestyle. Some may think that just because we are missionaries, we don’t give (financially) but instead go around fundraising. God was very clear to us that He did not want us fundraising. He said, ‘the worker is worthy of His wages.’ He asked us to focus on doing our work (what He is commanding us to do) and He will do His part of giving the wages.

But even as missionaries, we are blessed to experience the scriptures that ‘it is more blessed to give than to receive.’ Here is a recent  example: A few weeks ago, we had just over $200 to our name. We were praying for finances for this trip God was asking us to take to South Carolina. And do you know what God did? He asked us to give away the $200 we had!! After agreeing, Pitana went ahead and gave away the $200. Then we waited and prayed and prayed for provision for this trip. Well, the days were fast approaching and we had told everyone that we were leaving before the 20th as we needed to be in South Carolina before the 26th. Our desire was to leave earlier but that was dependent on when God released money to us. Well, on Saturday night, we found out we would have some money on Monday the 17th, so we decided to leave early Monday and  not rush through the states. On Sunday, we had no money to even fill up the gas tank. We still needed to have oil change done but no funds. In praying, God said, ‘I will send you some money but not all at once. As soon as you get some, just leave and trust Me to provide as you go.’ So, On Sunday morning we went to church and took care of making arrangements for the ministry work we oversee so that the work would continue while we are gone. While there, friends gathered around to pray for us. Before we left, they handed us $150. We held their hands and prayed over them asking God to look upon their giving and bless them. I cried as I prayed because God was just confirming His words to us that ‘as we go, He would provide.’ Here we had just made arrangements for ministry as we ‘go’ and God was already being faithful and I knew and knew that He would take care of all the details. On the way to church that morning, I had been asking God for some things I would like for our trip before we leave in the morning. Among those things were snacks for the road. We were in our van, pulling out of the church parking lot when a friend who doesn’t usually attend that church ran out of the church building to our van and asked if she could buy us snacks for the road! Isn’t God so good! We left overwhelmed by God’s goodness and faithfulness!!

We rushed home that afternoon and Pitana went to find a place where he could have an oil change last minute on Sunday and he did. Praise God!

We later went to a prayer meeting at 5 pm. We had not yet packed as we had just come out of a counselling session with a certain couple in which the man received Jesus. Hallelujah! But never the less, Pitana felt that we needed to go to the prayer meeting. So, we went trusting God that He would help us with packing! We had a wonderful time praying and worshiping with our brothers and sisters. They then prayed over us, some prophesying over us concerning the road trip. After the prayer, a brother stood looking at us steadfastly. He then came closer and asked us, ‘you are in need of money, aren’t you?’ He then handed us an envelope with $280. Money he had had left over after his vacation trip but now God had asked him to give it to us. Another lady came over and handed us $20 making it all $300. What a God we serve!

So off we began our trip the next day. Praise be to God!
