Strength and courage!

This morning I am reading in the book of Joshua and God gives him a charge to be strong and very courageous. I want to draw your attention though to this particular verse where the Lord says to him: ”ONLY you be strong and very courageous that you may observe to do ALL the law” Joshua 1:7-9. From this scripture we see that only strength and courage are the two ingredients necessary for us to do all the word of God instructs us to do for our good. The main reason why we usually don’t do what God tells us to do is because of the fear of man, what people will think of us. The pharisees came to Jesus in Mark 12:14 and said: ” Teacher,we know that you are a true and cares about no man” We all know though, Jesus does care about all mankind. He went as far as to die to deliver them from Hell. Yet here, we see one of his most precious traits, because when it came to doing His father’s will, he cared less about what anybody thought of him including his own family. But how shall we obtain this strength? The bible tells us in 1 John 2:14: ”I have written unto you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you.” So we see here that when we feed on the word of God daily, it will make us strong. God will also strengthen us by His Spirit as it says in Ephesians 3:16: ”That He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory to be strengthened with strength by His Spirit in your inner man”. My prayer today is that we will go deeper in God’s word and pray that God will strengthen us by His Spirit and the result of this will be courage. Courage is natural byproduct of being strengthened, empowered and filled by the Holy Spirit. Acts 4:31 says that after they had prayed, the place where they were gathered was shaken and they were filled with the Holy Spirit and spake the word of God with boldness(courage, without fear). Father, help us in this we pray in Jesus name. Amen.
